I want to extend that experience in a meaningful way that helps positively shape Minnesota for future generations. I’ve dedicated my life to helping connect people to important causes like job training, education, economic opportunities and healthcare. I still believe that our communities are made up of the heart and soul of people who genuinely care for one another. I want to leave our communities better than we found them for future generations. I also serve on the Rochester Charter Commission, and am part of the 2022 Leadership Greater Rochester program. I currently serve on the board of GiveMN, a statewide organization dedicated to using creative ideas and innovative technology, to connect people with causes. Rochester is our forever home and we are determined to help it grow and thrive. I met Bryant and, after scraping by through layoffs and various forms of financial insecurity, we had Owen and decided that there was no better place than my husband’s home state of Minnesota to raise a family. In 2007, I graduated from the University of Missouri.Īfter completing my degree in the worst economy in a generation, I found a job in the southwest working for Goodwill, where I would work and complete a master’s degree from Arizona State University. I did it with discipline, scholarships, grants and–of course–student loans. One month after his death, I set out to become the first in my family to graduate from college.
